War

This is the nature of war. By protecting others, you save yourself. If you only think of yourself, you’ll only destroy yourself.

Kambei Shimada, “Seven Samurai”‘

The aforementioned character also said, “[d]anger always strikes when everything seems safe.”

I seem to be caught between blundering and letting my guard down, stumbling into the latter; while simultaneously trying to protect others from myself. It is inevitable, I suppose, that fighting a war against yourself automatically means that you are destined to lose. Knowing this, the trick becomes finding means of ending the fight swiftly while minimizing injury to innocent bystanders.

This weird cold/flu I seem to have acquired has been making breathing somewhat difficult this evening. Given my family history of hypochondria, I decided not to bother my doctor until I have a better idea if it’s actually serious or not.

Maybe I’ll get lucky and an accidental “biological weapon” will do the job for me.
